Blue smoke
Burning oil. Usually worn valve seals or piston rings letting oil into the combustion chamber.

Honest diagnosis, fixed quotes before any work begins, and a 12-month warranty on every engine job. Certified technicians, genuine and OEM-grade parts, free pickup across Dubai.
A customer drove into our Al Quoz bay last August with his temperature needle buried in the red and steam curling from under the bonnet. He had seen the warning light come on twenty minutes earlier on Sheikh Zayed Road and kept driving, hoping to make it home. By the time he reached us, what should have been a AED 600 thermostat job had turned into a warped cylinder head. That one decision, driving on a hot engine for twenty more minutes, cost him an extra AED 9,000.
We tell that story a lot, because it is the single most expensive mistake we see. Engine repair in Dubai is not just about fixing what is broken. It is about catching it before the heat turns a small fault into a rebuild. At FIXGO, our certified engine technicians diagnose the real problem first, quote you a fixed price before touching a bolt, and back every job with a 12-month warranty. No guesswork, no surprise invoices.
Here is the thing nobody else on the first page of Google will tell you: actual numbers. Most workshops make you call before they say a word about price. We do not work that way. These are our real starting ranges, before VAT, for the most common engine jobs we handle.
| Job | Price range (AED) | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Computer diagnostics | from 150 (credited if you proceed) | 30 to 45 min |
| Minor repairs (sensors, coils) | 500 to 2,000 | 1 to 3 hours |
| Timing belt / chain | 1,500 to 4,500 | 1 to 2 days |
| Head gasket replacement | 3,000 to 8,000 | 2 to 4 days |
| Turbocharger replacement | 5,000 to 15,000 | 2 to 5 days |
| Full engine rebuild | 15,000 to 40,000 | 5 to 28 days |
Final price depends on your engine and parts choice. You get the full quote in writing before we start, and we are typically 30 to 50% below dealer pricing.
Burning oil. Usually worn valve seals or piston rings letting oil into the combustion chamber.
Coolant in the chamber. Often a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or worse. Do not ignore it.
Running too rich. A fuel, injector, or sensor fault burning more fuel than the engine can use.
Knocking or ticking that speeds up as you rev is rarely good news. Power loss and rough idling point to misfires, clogged injectors, or compression problems. And the check engine light, the one everyone ignores, is your ECU logging a fault code. Sometimes a loose sensor. Sometimes the only warning you get before something expensive.
Roughly half of what we see starts as heat or a leak. Both are cheap to fix early and brutal to fix late.
Damage is isolated, one seal, one sensor, one gasket, and the rest of the engine is sound. Most jobs land here.
Internal wear is widespread but the block is good. We strip, machine, and rebuild to factory spec. Far cheaper than replacement, and just as durable.
The block is cracked, or a rebuild approaches the price of a low-mileage replacement engine. Less common, sometimes the smart money.
We will always tell you which one we would choose if it were our own car.
Engines everywhere wear out. In Dubai they wear out faster, and the reason is simple physics. When summer tarmac hits 45°C and your engine bay sits well above that, heat thins your oil and breaks it down quicker than the service intervals printed in a European owner's manual ever accounted for. That is why we tell Dubai drivers to change oil every 5,000 to 7,500 km, not the 15,000 km a German factory might suggest for a cooler climate.
Warning light comes on. Coolant temperature climbing. Still a cheap fix, often just a thermostat or weak water pump.
Engine runs hot. Metal expands beyond design tolerances. Pulling over now still saves the engine.
Head warps, gasket fails. A AED 600 job becomes a AED 8,000 head gasket repair.
Block cracks. Now you are looking at a full rebuild or replacement, AED 15,000 and up.
WhatsApp, call, or the form on this page. We assign an engine specialist, not a generalist.
Scan tool, compression test, leak-down test, and a borescope look inside where needed. We find the fault, we do not assume it.
You see what we see, with an itemised, fixed quote sent to your phone.
Nothing gets dismantled until you say yes. Ever.
Genuine or OEM-grade parts, certified technicians, done properly.
We road-test every engine and hand you a written 12-month warranty at collection.
We work across more than 40 makes, petrol and diesel, daily drivers and performance engines. That includes the European units that scare a lot of general workshops: the BMW N47 and B47 diesels, the Mercedes OM651, the VW and Audi EA888, and the larger V8s in Range Rover and Porsche. Japanese and American engines too, from Toyota and Nissan to the GM and Ford V8s common on Dubai roads. If it has pistons, we have likely had one apart.
Last spring a Nissan Patrol came in burning oil badly. You could follow it down the street by the blue haze. The owner assumed total engine failure and was bracing for a replacement quote. Our leak-down test told a different story: cylinders three and five were down, but the block measured perfectly within spec. It did not need replacing. It needed a rebuild.
We stripped it over two days, sent the head for machining, replaced rings, bearings, seals and one scored piston, and rebuilt it to factory clearances. Nine working days, a fraction of what a new engine would have cost, and it left the bay with compression readings as good as the day it was built. He messaged three months later to say it was running better than it had in years. That is the difference between a workshop that measures and one that just quotes you the most expensive option.
Anywhere from AED 150 for diagnostics to AED 40,000 for a full rebuild, depending on the fault and the vehicle. Most repairs fall well below the rebuild figure. You always get a fixed written quote before any work starts.
A compression and leak-down test (about 45 minutes) tells us the exact condition of each cylinder. We give you an honest recommendation, repair, rebuild, or replace, with the cost of each laid out.
Coloured exhaust smoke (blue is oil, white is coolant, black is fuel), knocking or ticking noises, power loss, rough idling, overheating, and the check engine light. Book a diagnostic sooner rather than later.
Yes. We have the specialist tooling and software for BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Porsche, Land Rover and more, including jobs many general garages turn away.
Typically 5 to 10 working days, sometimes longer for harder-to-source parts. Complex cases can run up to 28 days. We give you a firm timeline before starting.
A properly rebuilt engine using OEM-spec components matches or beats a new engine for durability. Ours carry a 12-month warranty.
Extreme heat thins and degrades oil, stresses the cooling system, and hardens seals. It is why Dubai cars need more frequent oil changes and why a small cooling fault becomes urgent in summer.
Comprehensive policies may cover accident-related damage, but mechanical failure usually is not covered unless you have a separate warranty. Check your policy.
Yes, diesel and petrol both, including DPF issues, turbo faults, and injector problems common on diesel SUVs and pickups here.
Every engine repair carries a 12-month warranty on parts and labour. If a warrantied fault recurs, we fix it free.
Honest diagnosis, a fixed quote, and OEM-grade parts, all backed by a 12-month warranty. Do not wait for a roadside breakdown in 45°C heat.
