Warm air from the vents
The classic Dubai summer fault. Usually low refrigerant from a leak, but it can also be a failing compressor or a blocked condenser. We find which before refilling.

Blowing warm air in 45°C heat? Get an honest AC diagnosis, a fixed quote before any work, and a 12-month warranty. Certified technicians, genuine parts and refrigerant, free pickup across Dubai.
A driver came into our Al Quoz bay in July with his AC blowing slightly warm and a plan to "just top up the gas." We hear that a lot in summer. But a sealed AC system does not lose gas on its own, so if it is low, there is a leak somewhere. We pressure-tested it and found a corroded condenser seal at the front of the car, baked brittle by the heat and road grit. Topping up the gas would have cooled the car for maybe two weeks before it leaked straight back out.
That is the most common AC mistake we see in Dubai: paying for refill after refill instead of finding the leak once. At FIXGO, we diagnose why the system is warm before we touch the refrigerant, quote you a fixed price, and back the repair with a 12-month warranty. A gas refill that keeps emptying is not a repair. It is a subscription to the same problem.
Most AC pages in Dubai make you call for a price. We will show you upfront. These are our real starting ranges, before VAT, for the most common AC jobs. One thing that surprises people: newer cars use a different refrigerant (R1234yf) that costs more than the older R134a, so the gas refill price depends on what your car takes.
| Job | Price range (AED) | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| AC diagnostics & leak check | from 150 (free if you proceed) | 30 to 45 min |
| Gas refill, R134a (older cars) | 150 to 400 | 30 to 60 min |
| Gas refill, R1234yf (newer cars) | 350 to 700 | 30 to 60 min |
| Cabin filter replacement | 100 to 300 | 15 to 30 min |
| Leak detection & repair | 200 to 800 | 1 to 3 hours |
| Full AC service & flush | 300 to 900 | 2 to 3 hours |
| Compressor replacement | 1,500 to 3,500 | 3 to 5 hours |
Final price depends on your car, refrigerant type, and parts choice. European and luxury models sit at the higher end. You get the full quote in writing before we start, and we are typically 30 to 50% below dealer pricing.
The classic Dubai summer fault. Usually low refrigerant from a leak, but it can also be a failing compressor or a blocked condenser. We find which before refilling.
Air comes out cool but barely flows. Often a clogged cabin filter choked with desert dust, a tired blower motor, or a blockage in the system.
A musty or sour smell means mold and bacteria growing on a damp evaporator. Common in humid Dubai. Needs cleaning and sanitising, not just gas.
Other signs worth acting on: unusual noises when the AC kicks in (often a failing compressor or a loose part), the AC cutting in and out, water pooling in the footwell (a blocked drain), or the cooling getting steadily weaker over weeks (a slow leak). None of these improve on their own, and a small leak ignored becomes a compressor job.
Two in five AC jobs we see are a refrigerant leak, and almost all of those started as "just needs a top-up." Finding the leak once is cheaper than refilling all summer.
The system holds pressure and was simply low. A genuine top-up that lasts. We only do this when there is no leak, because refilling a leaking system is throwing money away.
A seal, hose, condenser, or O-ring is leaking. We fix the cause, then recharge. This is most jobs, and it is what stops the refill cycle.
The compressor has failed or seized. The bigger job, but when it is gone, it is gone. We flush the system properly so debris does not kill the new one.
We will never sell you a refill on a leaking system just to get you out the door. It will be warm again within weeks and you will have paid twice.
Your AC works harder in Dubai than almost anywhere on earth. In summer it runs flat out for every minute of every drive, often pulling cabin temperatures down from 60°C-plus after the car has baked in a car park. That constant maximum load wears the compressor faster. The heat hardens rubber seals and hoses until they crack and leak refrigerant. Fine desert dust coats the condenser at the front of the car and chokes its ability to shed heat, so the whole system runs hotter and less efficiently. And humidity near the coast feeds mold growth on the evaporator, which is where those summer smells come from. This is why we tell Dubai drivers to have the AC checked every spring, before the first 45°C day, not after it has already failed in traffic.
Cooling is a little weaker than last year. A small leak has started. Cheapest point to find and seal it.
You top up the gas and it is warm again in weeks. The leak is still there, now costing you repeat refills.
Running low on refrigerant makes the compressor work harder and run hot. Damage begins.
The compressor seizes, sometimes sending metal debris through the system. The AED 200 leak is now a AED 3,000-plus job.

We pressure-test the system, check refrigerant level and type, and use UV dye or an electronic sniffer to find leaks. We find the cause, we do not just refill.

Nothing is repaired until you say yes.
Genuine parts, the correct refrigerant for your car, charged to the exact manufacturer weight.

We service AC across more than 40 makes, from everyday Toyotas and Nissans to European and luxury models. That includes the newer R1234yf systems on recent Mercedes, BMW, Audi and VW that need the right equipment and refrigerant, the heavy-duty cooling on large SUVs like Range Rover and the Nissan Patrol that battle the worst of the heat, and the older R134a systems on cars built before the switch. Whatever cools your cabin, we have the gas, the parts, and the tools for it.
Last August a Nissan Patrol came in with the family AC barely cooling on school runs, despite two gas refills at other workshops that summer. Each refill had cooled it for a couple of weeks, then faded. The owner assumed the compressor was dying and was braced for the worst. Our pressure test found the real culprit: a hairline crack in the condenser, hidden behind the front grille and weeping refrigerant slowly under heat.
We replaced the condenser, flushed the system, recharged it to the exact factory weight, and measured the vent temperature at a proper cold before handing it back. The compressor was completely fine, it had just been starved of refrigerant. He had spent good money on two refills that were never going to hold. One correct diagnosis ended the cycle. That is the difference between refilling a symptom and fixing the cause.
A gas refill runs AED 150 to 400 for older R134a cars and AED 350 to 700 for newer R1234yf cars. Leak repairs are AED 200 to 800, and a compressor replacement AED 1,500 to 3,500. You get a fixed written quote first. See the table above.
Usually low refrigerant from a leak, but it can also be a failing compressor or a condenser blocked with dust. We diagnose the cause before refilling, because a leaking system will just go warm again.
It should not. A sealed system holds its charge for years. If it keeps going low, you have a leak, and refilling without fixing it is money down the drain.
They are two refrigerant types. Older cars use R134a, which is cheaper. Most cars from recent years use R1234yf, which costs more, so newer cars cost more to re-gas. We use the correct one for your car.

A gas refill takes 30 to 60 minutes, a leak repair one to three hours, and a compressor replacement three to five hours. We give you a firm time at the quote stage.
In Dubai, yes. Running low on refrigerant makes the compressor work harder and run hot, which can turn a cheap leak repair into an expensive compressor failure.
Once a year, ideally in spring before the summer heat. A quick check catches a small leak or a dirty condenser before it becomes a breakdown in traffic.
Yes, including the newer R1234yf systems on recent Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche that need specific equipment and refrigerant many general garages do not stock.
Every AC repair carries a 12-month warranty on parts and labour. If a warrantied fault recurs, we fix it free.
